THE SONG EXPLAINER

Feathers is a highlight of our debut album for me. It’s a song for the ones that got away, a natural sequel to Hollow in both story and in emotional power. Lyrically the song looks back nostalgically at a lost relationship and wonders if a love that once came easy and early may have been discarded too flippantly. Exploring the idea that first love can give us a false sense of security about the abundance of love in a world where it turns out that real love is in fact far from easy to find, and even more difficult to keep alive over time. 

We recorded the song at Unwound Studios in Deptford, London with the producer mixer dream team of Charlie Andrew and Matt Glasbey and then we recorded a live string Quintet at The Pool Studios, which was an absolute dream come true and pinch me moment. We couldn’t be prouder of how it all came together and now we just want the world to hear it!

THE BIO

Belle Mt. are a 3-piece indie Alt-Pop band from the UK fronted by Singer and Songwriter Matt Belmont, with Ben Worsley on Lead Guitar and Chris Burgess on Drums. Their cinematic, ethereal but driven sound is rooted in deeply crafted insightful lyrics and infectious melodies. They have amassed a devoted fanbase with over 60 million streams across platforms since their debut EP self-release in March 2018, receiving top tier play-listing across platforms including on New Music Friday in multiple countries and two top 40 US alt radio releases (Hollow in 2020 and Famous Son 2021). They were signed to Warner Records LA in February 2020 and went fully independent in February 2022.

Their most recent live shows include a sold out London headline show at The Courtyard Theatre in April 2023 and UK tour supports for RAG’N’BONE MAN, KALEO, LARKINS & JUANES in 2022 (with sell out shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo and Shepherds Bush Empire). In 2019 they created a huge buzz on the new music showcase festival circuit playing packed out slots at SxSW, Eurosonic Festival and Reeperbahn festival.

Returning with an evolved sound; Belle Mt. have been collecting serious momentum and attest that their Charlie Andrew produced upcoming debut album ‘Mean World Syndrome’ constitutes a watershed moment, their best work yet.
